History is rife with exceptional images of Planet Earth from space. The very first of these photographs was taken in 1946 when a 35mm camera attached to a V-2 rocket was sent to space. Though historic, the image itself is not terribly remarkable. However, as technology has developed, some truly spectacular views of earth have been captured. Some of the most famous pictures include The Earthrise taken during the Apollo 8 mission, and the Blue Marble, captured by the Apollo 17 crew.
