The Hamsa, also known as the Hand of Fatima, is a palm shaped symbol that represents protection in many cultures, including Jewish and Islamic.  It is often depicted as an open hand with an eye embedded in it, and is commonly used in jewelry and wall hangings. The word “Hamsa” comes from the Arabic word for “five,” which refers to the five fingers of the hand.
